College of Education

Dean's Greetings

Welcome to the College of Education at Korea University.

Korea University was founded in 1905 on the guiding philosophy of “Saving the Nation through the Power of Education.” Over the past 120 years, the University has nurtured talent essential for national development and has made significant contributions to advancing education in Korea by producing outstanding educators.

Education is a noble endeavor that transcends the simple transmission of knowledge—it unlocks human potential and fosters new cultures. To realize this mission, the College of Education was established in 1972. Since then, it has grown into the largest college of education in Korea, comprising eight departments and more than 2,000 students. Our reputation has been further strengthened by being recognized as the nation’s leading teacher training institution in evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Education.

In particular, our College received the top-tier rating in the Ministry of Education’s 6th Cycle Evaluation of Teacher Education Institutions and was awarded the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Award. In addition, it was ranked 33rd worldwide in the field of Education in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, reaffirming its status as a premier institution both in Korea and abroad. This achievement reflects the dedication of our faculty to research and teaching, the passion of our students, and the commitment of our administrative staff.

The College of Education actively responds to the demands of a rapidly changing world by offering a wide range of practical programs designed to cultivate global experts in education. Through partnerships with Korean international schools in Japan, China, Thailand, and other countries, our students gain valuable experience in diverse educational settings and are provided opportunities for growth.

Anchored by the BK21 Project for the Internationalization of Educational Studies and supported by the Education Issues Research Institute along with 11 affiliated research centers, we pursue dynamic research activities that contribute to shaping educational policies and directions in Korea. These efforts also provide students with valuable opportunities to strengthen their research capabilities.

Our College fosters a stable and supportive learning environment through numerous scholarships, including the College of Education Alumni Scholarship, the Seorim Scholarship, and the Global Field Study Scholarship. As a result, more than half of our students benefit from scholarship programs.

The Uncho Useon Education Hall, completed in 2010, is equipped with state-of-the-art educational facilities. Together with the main and new College buildings, it provides optimal spaces for teaching and research. Additional facilities such as the teaching and learning resources room, classroom action analysis laboratory, materials search room, student council room, club spaces, lockers, and lounges further support our mission of nurturing future leaders in education.

The College of Education at Korea University is the ideal choice for those who aspire to transform society through education. Here, you will find opportunities to grow into leaders in the global education sector and beyond.

Korea University’s College of Education will continue to adapt to the challenges of a changing era, reflect deeply on the essence and future of education, and pursue its goal of becoming the world’s foremost institution for teacher training.

Thank you.
